SOTD: DAS PROJEKT-CALL ME

Blondie's "Call Me" gets yet another makeover and this goth rock band from Brazil really nailed it on this one! We all knew this song makes an excellent goth cover, as The 69 Eyes showed us in the 90s, but the Brazilians take them up on their game and the end result is really giving the Finns a run for their money!

Instantly hooking from the first few seconds, this song displays a different side of goth music than the Finns' version, while managing to stand on its own against not only their cover but the original as well. The deep, crooning male vocals are a delight to indulge upon in a squeaky shrill world, and the music video in itself is a campy treat, especially the second half, where pretty zombie girls in various hyper-sexualized halloween costumes are dancing synchronized.

Powerful and yet mesmerizing, this is a perfect way to get introduced into not only a great band, but a whole scene that often goes unmentioned. Das Projekt have a lot more to show than an excellent cover, but for now, put it on repeat for the rest of the day and enjoy your normally mundane activities suddenly going by much more fun.

P.S.: THAT'S how you do a dancing girl goth music video. And yes, I am bitching about a very particular recent music video.
